Field trips, Valentine's Day and Golden Knights Fans!

The first part of February has been fun and busy for us!!! Both boys had field trips, PTO paint night, Valentine's Day,  and a five day weekend where we got to see and meet some really cool people!

Nolen's field trip was to The Smith Center, a performing arts center, where we watched How I Became A Pirate. What was really neat for the kids was that they had spent the two weeks prior reading the book, discussing the book and writing about the book. Then they got to dress up and go see the play! It was so much fun and I loved being able to go.

PTO Paint and Popcorn Night was a huge success! This was such a fun event. We had an artist come to the school and do step by step instructions for a painting we chose and we served popcorn and juice or water. So fun to bring our elementary community together!

Valentine's Day 2018! We had a fun time making Valentine boxes with the boys and they both have enjoyed reading all their valentine cards from their friends. We had Sam's pizza and then watched a movie at home!

Hudsen had his field trip on Valentine's Day! We went to Spring's Preserve and got to walk around and see all the exhibits. This one was a little more challenging because I was in charge of 7 kids and had to get us back to the bus on time. Fortunately I had a good group of kids, we didn't get lost and we all made it back to the bus on time! Whew!!

Nolen doing a Valentine math activity in class!

So we have been on a long weekend and one of the things me and my friend Wendy wanted to do was take the kids to watch the Golden Knights practice.  Their practice facility is 5 minutes from us and we thought it would be so fun. We have been Knights fans the minute the NHL said they would be bringing a team to Vegas! It has been fun to watch them, in person and at home, but this was our first chance at watching a practice. I have to say we were Hooked in the first few minutes of being there! We have been back two more times and have made friends with the security guard and other fans. They have a line where kids 14 and under can get autographs and we have told the boys every time we go that we may not get any autographs or meet any players but that we will try and then that we just enjoy being able to watch them. We were blessed to be able to get and meet all that we did and we don't take that for granted. We had a blast and made lots of cool memories. These players are not only good hockey players but they are great role models and we need more people like them!

Our first autograph was Fleury and we were beyond excited!

We stayed a little longer and were able to meet Leipsic!

After Leipsic was our other goalie, Lagace!

After Lagace we got to meet Merrill! This was all in our first day and they were all just great people and super nice to the kids!

The boys got their first hockey jersey and they have worn them everyday since!!

Day 2 and we were pumped to be back!

Hudsen took a pennant this time and was able to get his own Fleury autograph!

After Fleury we got to meet Wild Bill Karlsson!

Chance our Mascot was in the lobby so we had to meet him! Again another awesome 2nd day!!

After those two days, the boys asked everyday if the Knights had practice. They didn't again until today so of course we went back! We were First in line and were so excited!!

Both boys got to meet Haula and Nolen was super excited about it!!

After Haula we got to see Schmidt and Hudsen was super excited about it!

After we met Schmidt we went to the stands to watch practice a little longer. There were three guys still practicing and we wanted to watch. The line was still a little long but not bad and Hudsen wanted to get a few autographs on the pennant that he didn't get that first day so I took him down to the line. I told him we might not get anything but that we would try. As we were standing in line I noticed that Engelland was in the lobby. Hudsen got really excited and said he wanted to try and meet him. So, I call Wendy to let her know and she brings the little boys out too. We were able to get his autograph and a picture! He was so sweet to the boys and that ended our incredible Golden Knights practice experience! We seriously had a Blast, I can't say that enough! We are so looking forward to Spring Break when we can go back! Our Golden Knights are truly THE BEST players and people!!! I am so glad my boys can grow up with a team to call their own!! A team that was Born here just like them!! GO KNIGHTS GO!!

Yesterday Nolen wanted to use his Birthday money from Nanny and Pappy to get a Hatchimal. He had so much fun watching it hatch and has taken it everywhere with us today. Yes, the hatchimal went to practice with us!!

Hudsen bought a Lego Ninjago Movie lego set. He put it together without any help, other than help finding a piece, and he was so proud!

We have had a fun February so far and we still have more to do!!! Baseball practices start this week for both boys and then we get to celebrate Nolen's birthday this month too!!
